Recruiting tips
Every company is looking to attract and retain top talent. There are tips to help ensure that you are not losing quality candidates before you are able to make an offer. It starts with first impressions and how your interactions begin.
First, when you reach out to candidates you want to send emails or make calls. Using text messages may be a bit too private for some and turn them off.
Second, when you have the first initial phone screen, make it brief and ensure you are respecting their time. You want to get an initial sense if they may be a good fit. The secondary screening can be more in depth.
Third, for secondary screening try to keep to a certain timeframe. If you notice that the timeframe is going over, acknowledge that the time is going over, and ask the candidate if it is ok to extend the time by a certain amount. This shows self-awareness to the candidate and that you respect their time.
Lastly, ensure that you provide a reasonable timeframe concerning the next steps. This establishes reliability, and the candidate will view the company as honest and reliable when the company keep to the timetable. Also, it is another way to respect candidate’s time, removing anxiety waiting for an update.
